Son culte, pratiqu\u00e9 chez les populations de langue \u00e9w\u00e9 et mina des aires c\u00f4ti\u00e8res du Togo, du B\u00e9nin et du Ghana, rem\u00e9more les esclaves.<\/p>\n<p>Il incarne ceux qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9port\u00e9s, priv\u00e9s des rites fun\u00e9raires n\u00e9cessaires. Pour r\u00e9tablir l&rsquo;ordre, les esprits en errance reviennent parmi les vivants par l&rsquo;interm\u00e9diaire du vodou Tchamba, afin d&rsquo;exiger des offrandes et des c\u00e9r\u00e9monies en leur honneur. Les Tchambassi, \u00e9pouses du vodou Tchamba, sont les femmes garantes de ce culte de la m\u00e9moire. Ces femmes portent en elles une double origine : elles sont \u00e0 la fois descendantes des esclaves mais aussi des ma\u00eetres qui en ont fait commerce.<\/p>\n<p>Ce vodou est compos\u00e9 de bois, cadenas, cha\u00eene m\u00e9tallique, colliers de perles, cornes, tissu, coquillages, plumes, pigment bleu, kaolin et de mati\u00e8res sacrificielles. Il tient entre ses mains un cr\u00e2ne de phacoch\u00e8re. Les cha\u00eenes, les cordes et les cadenas pr\u00e9sents sur les objets rituels de Tchamba sont des supports \u00e0 travers lesquels les officiants \u00e9voquent la violence d&rsquo;antan, afin d&rsquo;apaiser les \u00e2mes.
